will take place in July 17-20, 2017, at Tsinghua University, Beijing.
The OCPA9 Co-chairs:
Albert M. Chang (OCPA President, Duke University)
Qi-Kun Xue (Vice President, Tsinghua University)
cordially invite you to OCPA9 (please see the OCPA9 conference poster--http://meetings.phys.tsinghua.edu.cn/en/meeting_page/6).
Under the General Information icon of this website, and also on the Headings page of the: http://meetings.phys.tsinghua.edu.cn/
site announcing the OCPA9 Beijing Conference, you may already have found the history and description of the OCPA conference
series. For your convenince, the main description is reproduced here:
The OCPA conference is a conference for Chinese Physicists and Astronomers worldwide. Since 1994, the conference has been held
regularly every two (or three) years. Past conferences were in Shantou (1994), Taipei (1997), Hong Kong (2000), Shanghai (2004),
Taipei (2006), Lanzhou (2009), Kaohsiung (2011) and Singapore (2014). The scientific program features plenary sessions, followed by
invited and contributed talks in parallel sessions. Scientific topics cover the latest experimental and theoretical developments
in all subfields of physics. The educational program covers new progress in physics education, public outreach, mentoring
of undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
This OCPA9 conference will feature a list of distinguished plenary speakers, covering Neutrino Physics, Dark Matter
search, Synchrotron Radiation Research, Topological Matter, High Tc Superconductors, Blue-Green
Lasers, Metamaterials, Nanophotonics, Protein Structure, Quantum Optics/Information, and LIGO gravitational wave
detection.
Plenary Speakers:
Steve Chu (Stanford, To be Confirmed)
Kataaki Kajita (Tokyo I, Neutrinos)
Shuji Nakamura (UCSB, Blue/Green Lasers)
Barry Barish (Caltech, LIGO)
Hui Cao (Yale, Nanophotonics)
Shangr Gwo (National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, Hsinchu)
Xiangdong Ji (Maryland and SJTU, PandaX Dark Matter Detection)
Chris Monroe (Maryland, Quantum Optics/Information)
Zixun Shen (Stanford, High Tc Superconductors)
Yigong Shi (Tsinghua, Protein Structure)
Yifang Wang (IHEP, Beijing, China High Energy Program)
Yu Wei (Southeast Univ., Nanjing, Physics Education)
Xiao-Gang Wen (MIT, Topological Matter)
In the spirit of past OCPA conferences, OCPA9 will host several forums, including:
Nobel Laureate/Distinguished Scientist Forum on Different Approaches to Cutting-Edge Scientific Research
Women in Physics Forum
Science Education Forum on International Collaboration and on Physics Education.
As of today, 60 parallel sessions are planned in the thirteen topical areas:
Accelerator Physics (AC)
Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMO)
Astronomy & Astrophysics (AS)
Biophysics (BP)
Cosmology & Gravitation (CG)
Chemical Physics (CHE)
Condensed Matter and Materials Sciences (CM)
Computational and Mathematical Physics (CP)
High Energy/Particle Physics (HEP)
Nuclear Physics (NP)
Plasma Physics (PL)
Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics (SM).
Following OCPA8 Singapore, 2014, we will hold the Conference Outstanding Poster Awards, as a important
component of the conference. To give further audience, a small number of poster abstract submissions
(around 30) will also be given the opportunity to give an oral presentation as a contributed talk in
parallel sessions. Note that the selection as an oral contributed talk does NOT guarantee an
Outstanding Poster Award, as the criteria have different components.
This OCPA9/Tsinghua website will be up and running in late February. The target date for conference
registration to begin is March 1, 2017, and the deadline for submitting conference abstracts will be May 1, 2017.
In addition, there will be a High School Program on Sunday afternoon, July 16, for 200 high school students and 50 high school teachers. The HSP is organized by Nu Xu (Lawrence Berkeley Lab), Qi-Kun Xue, and Albert M. Chang.
We hope to see you in Beijing!
